Final Stages of the1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible

Digital design of custom console piece for the ‘57 Chevy Bel Air

We are in the final stretch of building this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, which we are preparing for the prestigious 2024 Sacramento Autorama scheduled for May 3-5, 2024

James York (York Speed Shop) has created the custom console trim piece. He has digitally designed it to include precise cutouts for cupholders and the shift lever, with additional smaller openings designated for seat heater switches. After finalizing the prototype, the trim was be fabricated from premium 6061 aluminum using our Haas CNC machine, ensuring both precision and durability.

In terms of electrical installations, we are integrating a new Haywire wiring harness to enhance reliability and functionality, a critical aspect of classic car restoration.

The assembly of the vehicle’s exterior components are underway. The doors, fenders, and front clip are mounted, and each contributes significantly to the vehicle’s iconic appearance and structural integrity.

The engine compartment has received considerable upgrades as well. Custom valve covers and a chrome supercharger top have been installed, each finished to a high standard to augment the aesthetic appeal of the engine. We have utilized digital scanning technology to ensure that these additions are accurately tailored to the engine compartment.

For the interior, we have selected a high-quality caramel-toned leather from Relicate Leather for the seating, which consists of two front bucket seats and a rear bench seat. This choice extends to the door panels, creating a cohesive and luxurious interior atmosphere. The flooring has been carpeted to complement the overall design scheme.

As the event approaches, our team at RRC is working around the clock to ensure that every detail of this 1957 Chevrolet meets the highest standards of classic car restoration. Our staff, including upholstery expert Mel Silva, are deeply committed to the success of this endeavor.

We look forward to showcasing the finished vehicle at the 2024 Sacramento Autorama and invite all each of you to visit us there to view firsthand the culmination of our efforts.
